Our (mostly) fun camping trip!

In July, we traveled west into Virginia to visit the spectacular Luray Caverns and Natural Bridge, camp out overnight, and then visit the Natural Bridge Zoo. You won't see any pics of the camping part, since that was pretty well a disaster (torrential rain + unfamiliar borrowed tent = anger/frustration). But overall, we did still have a really great time!

The fam, as we entered the magnificent Luray Caverns. Nate got cut off, down there. Oops!

Just a few photos of the caverns, without comment...

(This was a shallow undergound lake, which makes it look like a mirror image -- pretty cool!)

The caverns featured a full pipe organ, the pipes of which were actual stalactites that just happened to be the right size, when the organ's installer was doing his thing. God is amazing. We got to hear "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God" played on a stalactite organ while a few hundred feet unrderground. :)

This pool was called the Wishing Well. Very clever. Apparently, they raise several thousand dollars in change every year.

At Natural Bridge, there were lots of attractions -- we stopped at a wax museum, as well as a toy museum, which (as you can see) had quite a collection of vintage Star Wars toys. Scott used to have all of these. Wonder how much they're worth today. Sigh.

The Natural Bridge itself was magnificent. This picture simply can't do justice to it.

The kids maintained a chipper attitude throughout all the driving we did. Probably listening to Johnny Cash the whole time helped. Especially "A Boy Named Sue."
